Typography

The various typography assignments I completed during the InDesign and Design Principle portion of the course helped me to really appreciate the power of typography. All of the typography assignments I worked on, including producing a book using master pages required me to work with text. Some tools that I used the most included kerning, leading and tracking to help format and space out text. I also had to use drop caps and superscript. Even though I used kerning, leading and tracking the most in order to complete the assignments located on this page, I was amazed how powerful they were. I really appreciated how three simple techniques could make such drastic modifications to a chunk of text. While completing these assignments I started to better understand text as actual artwork and not just words. It was fun manipulating the text to make it more unique and artistic as opposed to just keeping what original text looks like as you type on a computer screen.
